Greenwood Education Foundation Cares

The GEF Cares is a division of the Greenwood Education Foundation.  The goal of this program is to provide food, clothing, and mental health support to individuals and families in our community. The number of Greenwood families who go without meals, clothes, housing and other necessities is staggering and the COVID pandemic has only exacerbated an already huge issue in our community. GEF Cares will offer periodic drive-thru food pantries, clothing closets and eventually mental health programs. While all of this might not happen at once, it is our goal to make all of these services available as soon as possible. Any contribution you can make to the creation and success of the GEF Cares program would be greatly appreciated!

Grab N' Go Community Cares

GEF has partnered with Great Harvest Food Pantry to host a drive thru-food distribution day.  Our efforts helps provide free boxes of food to 93 families in our community; that is roughly 350 individuals.  In addition, we served 36 families with babies passing out a total of 1,803 diapers and 6,691 baby wipes!

These efforts are made possible by donations provided to the GEF Care & Compassion Initiative.  Please consider making a monetary donation to support future drive-thru pantries for the Greenwood community!

The Greenwood Education Foundation will be holding a "Woodmen Winter Warm-Up" in preparation for the winter season. We are currently collecting items that will help keep our students warm.  Items that we are accepting at this time are coats to fit children and young adults, hats,  ear muffs, gloves, mittens, scarfs, adult sweatshirts & children's underwear.   Donations can be dropped off at the Greenwood High School Homecoming football game Friday, September 24, 2021.  Additional drop off locations are available throughout the community until October 1st.  These locations include Greenwood Christian Church, Grace Assembly of God, and First Baptist Church of Greenwood.

Monetary donations can also be made using the DONATE BUTTON. We greatly appreciate your support as we come together as a community to help keep our students warm this winter!

Attention GWS staff- do you have a student whose financial situation is holding them back?  Perhaps a pair of shoes, glasses, field trip costs or enrollment fees for an after-school program are just not in the family’s budget.  In 2017, the Helping Hands Fund was established to help provide monetary needs for underserved students in the Greenwood School Corporation.  These funds may be used for a wide variety of needs that students may have due to financial restrictions they face at home.  Any requests for Helping Hands funds must be made by a school's guidance department, student service advisor, or principal.
