Greenwood Education Foundation

Organization:

Greenwood Education Foundation, supporting the Greenwood Community School Corporation

Position:

Executive Director

Capacity:

Part-time (approximately 20 hours per week).

Description:

The Executive Director of the Greenwood Education Foundation is expected to provide professional leadership and guidance to the Board of Directors to best achieve the Foundation’s objectives while maintaining a close bond to the Foundation’s mission. Major responsibilities for the Executive Director position will include:

  • Fundraising

  • Public relations

  • Event planning

  • Maintaining communication streams within the board and its committees

  • Assisting the board with budget projections

  • Establishing and maintaining active short and long-term goals and priorities for the Foundation

 

Purpose:

Encourage, recognize, reward, and support creativity, innovation, achievement, and excellence within the students, teachers, and administration of the Greenwood Community School Corporation.  Develop partnerships with individuals, families, community organizations, businesses, and philanthropies to aid the Education Foundation and enhance educational opportunities for the Greenwood Community School Corporation.  Develop relationships with teachers, parents and alumni of the Greenwood Community School Corporation. Transact any and all lawful business for which nonprofit organizations are required by law.

 

Duties:

Development and Public Relations

  • Cultivate a knowledge of potential donations and recommend approaches to obtaining them, then execute those approaches.

  • Cultivate and build strong relationships with existing donors, stakeholders, and others who have connections with the Education Foundation.

  • Develop and execute marketing plans to grow the Education Foundation.

  • Maintain knowledge of current and any changes to the law and regulations as they pertain to charitable giving to the Education Foundation.

  • Serve as the professional face of the Education Foundation to the community.

  • Develop and execute public relations and marketing programs to enhance the image and the public’s awareness of the Education Foundation.

  • Develop a strong relationship with the Superintendent to help ensure purpose and goal alignments are maintained between the Foundation and the School Corporation.

 

Board and Committee Relations

  • Implement policies established by the Board of Directors.

  • Assist the Board in the development of goals and long-term plans.

  • Help direct and coordinate the Board committees.

  • Function as a staff resource for the Board and committees by providing adequate information/resources for well-informed decision making and offering sound recommendations.

  • Work alongside the Board President to prepare the meeting agendas and help facilitate Board of Directors’ meetings.

  • Recruit, select, supervise, and develop volunteers and staff, if needed, to help accomplish the objectives of the Education Foundation.

  • Help develop and oversee the operating budget of the Education Foundation.

  • Ensure Education Foundation governance policies and practices are current and applicable.

  • Oversee fund, grant, and scholarship program management.

  • Oversee donor relations.

  • Maintain an acute awareness of the local community needs and interests as they relate to the Education Foundation.

 

Payment:

The Executive Director position is structured as an independent contractor performing a service for the Greenwood Education Foundation and will be compensated by contractual terms. The Executive Director will receive monthly compensation after submitting documentation for hours worked. In addition to this, the Executive Director may be reimbursed for mileage expenses, (per the IRS rate and the time of expense), parking, and any other expenses approved by the Board of Directors or the Greenwood Education Foundation. Mileage, parking, and other expenses must be clearly defined and reported with receipts and descriptions as to how they are directly related to the Executive Director position.

 

Job Types: Part-time, Contract

Salary: $20.00 per hour
